Two new laws were passed this session by Connecticut legislators; they together make the state a leader in cybersecurity protections for citizens. Bill # 5310, the new Data Breach Notification law, expands the definition of “Personal Information” triggering the required notice. House Bill # 6607 offers reduced liability for businesses that implement standards-based security protection frameworks and still suffer a data breach.
Social workers dedicate their lives to helping vulnerable populations in time of need. They assist families and individuals to work through crises and support them while managing everyday problems. In addition, they connect families and caregivers with resources to ensure they are getting appropriate care. Those who practice in this field feel a strong sense of fulfillment in their role and service to others. Earning an MSW affords more opportunities to make a difference in a community.
While in high school, Brittany volunteered at Seymour Pink, a community based, non-profit to raise money for breast cancer. She was moved as she listened to the stories from patients, survivors and their families. They told the crowd of the compassionate nurses that supported them through their battle with cancer. The inspirational and courageous people compelled Brittany to do something more.
I will commend the Administration for the recent (May 13, 2021) Executive Order aimed at promoting immediate improvements in cybersecurity within government sector and private sector. At the same time, there are areas that need more attention.
MS in Special Education from Quinnipiac University to continue her drive for equity in the classroom. Although her journey was not easy, Kaye’s determination to find happiness and success won out. She relied on her past to guide her to a bright future both personally and professionally, and Quinnipiac’s special education program has helped Kaye gain the knowledge and skills to become the educator she feels her students deserve.

Social and emotional learning and school climate programs build strong relationships among students, teachers and the community. Students are taught how to navigate through the complexities of their world by managing their emotions, showing empathy for others, learning how to set and achieve goals, and make responsible decisions.
