How was your experience with the admissions staff?

I don’t think I could have experienced a better admissions process. I was contacted by the assistant director of admissions immediately after my first email about the program and knew he was there to help along the way. I was having issues deciding about whether or not I could join the program and Paul really helped me through the process and called back often to make sure I stayed on track. I can honestly say that the admissions process was what solidified my decision to take classes at Quinnipiac.

Can you describe what your experience has been like in the online classroom?

The online classroom has been really terrific. We had activities designed early on to help get to know each other and the discussions have always been friendly and thought provoking. What I admired the most was how the professors would get involved with even the lighter conversations between students and it really helped connect us.

Can you tell us what sets Quinnipiac’s program apart from some of the other programs you looked at?

I work at a different university and it's known even here that Quinnipiac is about educational quality. A colleague of mine had taken a different degree at Quinnipiac and really appreciated the quality of her online classes and recommended it over the others. The structure of the program ensures that we have the theoretical background as well as the practical application. Other programs try to take the easy way out. If I was going to take a master's program, I was going to make sure it would be worth my while and the courses offered in Quinnipiac cover the whole spectrum.

Did you learn anything in any of your classes that you were able to immediately apply to your job the next day?

Every week! That was my favorite part. Both of my courses were incredibly helpful right from the start. Understanding cognitive theories has a direct application in designing online media in a proper way. In the course “Design for Digital Environments,” you create practical elements of an online course from the very first week. I knew I picked the right courses.

Did you receive a promotion or new job offer as a result of what you learned in the program?

I did not receive a promotion but being in this program has opened up new possibilities for work. This field requires a master's degree and having one from Quinnipiac will be a real upgrade for my resume.
