How was your experience with the admissions staff?
My experience with the admissions staff was awesome! Each person I spoke with was very friendly and answered my questions, or pointed me in the right direction. I had been out of school for 15 years and was quite nervous about the entire process but they made me feel welcomed and no question was too trivial.
Can you describe what your experience has been like in the online classroom?
My experience in the online classroom was very positive. Each evening I looked forward to reading the responses on Blackboard from the other students. The instructors made themselves readily available and many of them were comfortable with either email or telephone conversation.
Can you tell us what sets Quinnipiac’s program apart from some of the other programs you looked at?
Before choosing QU for my DNP, I looked at several online and hybrid programs. The selling point for me was the amount of help that would be offered if you should need it. During my first class, we had to do a writing assignment. After I completed my assignment, I called the writing lab and was able to get an appointment for someone to read over my paper before I submitted it.
Did you learn anything in any of your classes that you were able to immediately apply to your job the next day?
I was working on a project at work involving mock codes. This course allowed me to look at my leadership style and communication. I immediately started applying the information I learned in the online classroom with very positive results.
Did you receive a promotion or new job offer as a result of what you learned in the program?
Yes, I was offered an adjunct faculty position at QU, and will start teaching in the fall! This was my main purpose for going back to obtain the DNP. At my current place of employment, I have been asked to be involved in various committees and projects.
